sADurday series: Marc Jacobs / Protect the Skin You’re In Campaign

This week’s sADurday series is far from kid-appropriate but I think it’s an interesting campaign that Marc Jacob’s launched. The “protect the skin you’re in” campaign began in 2006 by Jacobs and his was intended to raise awareness about skin cancer. Jacob’s creates tees with nude celebrities covered by slogans “protect the skin you’re in” “protect your largest organ” and “cover your ass.” Celebrities who have been a part of the campaign include: Heidi Klum, Naomi Campbell, Winona Ryder, Miley Cyrus, Cara Delevingne, Victoria Beckham, Dita von Teese, Eva Mendes, Robert Duffy, and more.

The proceeds of the tees go to the Interdisciplinary Melanoma Cooperative Group at New York University.

sADurday series: Dolce and Gabbana / Madonna

Madonna is queen and everybody knows that. But what was super interesting about this week’s sADurday series is how Dolce and Gabbana depicted Madonna as a housewife, quite far from her reality of fame. Perhaps D&G was trying to fit luxury into wifely duties?

and this isn’t even all the ads that D&G published in 2010.

sADurday Series: Coco Chanel Fall 2009

Hey hey Saturday!

This week we are bringing back Coco Chanel x Lily Allen in the Fall 2009 Coco Cocoon advertisement! What I absolutely love about this series is how playful and spunky Allen is. She brings something more to the table more than just her self for celebrity branding. She gives the bags character and spice, and makes me even want one….an ad well done I think!

the sADurday series: Alexander Wang Fall 2009

Here at thatinblack we’ve decided to ad another series onto our weekly features: the sADurday series where we’ll feature some of our favorite black and white ads from past & present.
